RT @HN_Schlottman: On the Zelenskyy statement over the weekend: I have no expectation of getting accurate casualty figures from either the Ukrainian or Russian government while hostilities are ongoing. As a matter of course, parties will minimize their own losses, while inflating the enemies.

@MattyWills1172: It is back to the future but under the current circumstances I think it makes sense of them doing so. The Western MD hasn't been a success.
In practical terms, I don't think much will change in the short-term but their intention is to grow the ground forces in the Leningrad MD.
The Fleet's are also being removed from the MD's and directly subordinated to CINC Navy instead. Also a return to the past.

@Capt_Navy: I do see how splitting the Western MD makes sense south of Murmansk Oblast but for the north, having everything subordinated to the Commander of the Northern Fleet has seemed like a good solution to me. It is after all primarily a naval theatre.
The details of how things will be on Kola now, especially with aviation, is still unclear to me.
