One should try to learn from analytical errors of the past, but this debate needs less heat.
I will claim that Russian blunders in the past led to them being underestimated going into this summer.

@PhillipsPOBrien: Looking into the individual tactical actions of a battle, one finds many points where things could have turned out differently.
From a strategic point of view, in a positional battle on today's frontline of little significance. The early days in Kyiv is a completely different matter.
The full story of the early days is yet to be told. I do hope you as a historian on WW2 can appreciate that new information sheds new light on past events.
