On January 25th, US announced 31 Abrams Tanks for Ukraine

Same for Patriot, 7 days later it was approved

@VictorishB123 US can send another HIMARS launcher by plane or from Eastern Europe. Ukraine could fire ATACMS with their 10 M270 Launchers or a software update could be done

I want Ukraine to also get long range missiles, but they aren’t getting them. US has not even considered sending SLAM-ER

@VictorishB123 I don’t think USA will send them if they know that they will get shot down. There is a possibility they don’t shoot most ATACMS down

Ukraine can intercept most Kalibr/X-101s with S-300 and Buks, but Russia hasn’t shot down a single Storm Shadow with them. Their air defense sucks

ATACMS is the missile US mostly doesn’t need it’s outdated and Ukraine can fire it easily

@VictorishB123 I am not saying it’s a miracle weapon. It’s worse than Storm Shadow and it’s easier to get shot down, and it can’t take out any Bridge

But Ukraine has only fired 35-40 Storm Shadows in the past two months. They don’t have enough long range missiles, USA could send ATACMS to help

@VictorishB123 I don’t know if UK allows Ukraine to hit Crimea with Storm Shadows. They have hit everywhere but Crimea. There only strike was on the 100 meter bridge in the middle where Zaporizhzhia and Crimea Oblasts meet, basically on the border. They have never hit any actual parts of Crimea

@auonsson @MT_Anderson The tugs are an indicator for Baltic Fleet activity, which is likely what Allied ISR is interested in, not the tugs themselves.

I don't have good track of activity in the Baltic at the moment, so don't know if any sea trials or other interesting activity is underway.

@VictorishB123 I honestly think it would be a smart idea for US to test a couple ATACMS out before sending them. There’s a strike in recent weeks that may have been done by M39/M39A1 ATACMS as it resembles the aspects of one

But if not, I think US would not send them if they will get shot down

@VictorishB123 If it’s so easy to get shot down and is less accurate then they don’t need it and would benefit more from intercepting a Storm Shadow or GMLRS. ATACMS is an old missile, USA is replacing it.

@VictorishB123 Of the 1,595 to 1,700 M39/M39A1 ATACMS, a total of 1,076 were brought in by the start of 2022 according to the installation schedule on US Procurement records, and as of now at least 924 should’ve been converted to M57E1

USA likely still has a couple hundred M39 and M39A1 ATACMS
