Some might describe this as part of 'The Death Ride of the 4th Guards Tank Division', mainly its 13th Tank Regt. But it's actually more pathetic than that. A large proportion of losses were breakdowns, run-drys, or abandonment in mud. The 13th lost at least 47 of its 94 tanks🧵👇

Note these figures for losses are only until 15/03 so do not include the withdrawal. Also this particular T-80 № 480 is probably from the 13th Tank Regiment (by number it's likely) but may have also been from the Division's 12th Tank Regiment. The 12th lost 18 tanks till 15/03

Ukraine published documents reportedly from Russia's 1st Tank Army showing its losses through March 15. It lists: 61 KIA, 209 WIA, 44 MIA, and 96 taken POW.
Incredibly, the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division's 1st Tank Regiment allegedly lost 45 T-72B3M tanks.
