A challenging question for you Blockchain fanatics: What’s the DIFFERENCE between a #Blockchain and a #Wiki? Both: - publicly accessible - immutable (show all records & edits) There are key differences! If you can’t answer question, then you don’t really understand Blockchain!

Hint: the key difference has something to do with: - who is allowed to write to it - what is allowed to be written - the truthfulness & objectivity of the information written Public #Wiki (type of #DB) were invented in the 1990s & they’re indeed great. But it’s no #Blockchain! https://t.co/l1CaceERBi

So many #ICO projects are touting #Blockchain technologies, when what they’re really using, is just 1990s #Wiki technology. A private Wiki #Database. You won’t fool me.

Bravo! Well said. So if your so-called “Blockchain” is storing (garbage) information that is NOT *independently* and NOT *authoritatively* #verifiable, then you’ve just built a #Wiki and mistook it for #Blockchain. Haha. https://t.co/d0k1YF9HMq

@bobbyclee Wiki edits as compared to BC transactions are not *independently* and *authoritatively* verifiable
@VanArtemus What you’re describing is the use of a public #Wiki #database. It’s good technology, and it’s from the 1990s. That’s not #Blockchain. See my 2 tweets today: https://t.co/tg7wFW0eOL

Given that today’s #crypto community is mostly #ICO fanboys, I won’t be surprised if my tweet here doesn’t get a lot of traction. Ha! The exception would be the oldschool #Bitcoin fanbase, those of us who actually DO understand #Blockchain & the amazing innovation it brought us. https://t.co/ojZsqxO0Ik

@cryptowilson That’s precisely my point: I do NOT think #wiki is #immutable; It’s a private #centralized service. Its owner can make undetectable changes! My point: many people are actually using a controlled #Private #Blockchain & tout it as immutable. It’s NOT! Having a ledger isn’t enough.
