According to Foresight News, British citizen Thalha Jubair has been indicted for his involvement in over 120 cyber intrusions and extortion attacks affecting 47 U.S. entities. The total ransom paid by victims exceeds $115 million. The indictment alleges that 19-year-old Jubair collaborated with the cybercrime group Scattered Spider, using social engineering techniques to gain unauthorized access to networks, steal and encrypt information, and then demand ransom from victims. The group also targeted critical infrastructure companies and the U.S. court system. In July 2024, law enforcement successfully seized approximately $36 million in cryptocurrency during a server raid.
