According to BlockBeats, a 19-year-old cryptocurrency trader in Singapore was ambushed by two men while attempting to exchange 32,000 Singapore dollars (approximately 24,000 USD) for USDT. The incident occurred on August 29 when the trader, known only as 'ZK,' met with the sellers in a parking lot. During the transaction, one of the men punched ZK in the face, prompting him to flee to a nearby shopping mall while calling for help. The attackers pursued him but eventually lost track of him. ZK then reported the incident to the police.
The transaction was arranged via Telegram, and although ZK had never dealt with the seller before, he proceeded with the exchange because he needed USDT and the seller was the only one who contacted him. ZK preferred a face-to-face transaction to save on fees, stating that the costs associated with his trading frequency were unreasonable. Initially, the parties agreed to meet in a public mall where ZK would hand over the cash and the seller would transfer the USDT to his wallet. However, the seller changed the meeting location to a nearby parking lot at the last minute.
Singapore police have since arrested two men, aged 20 and 21, in connection with the attempted robbery.#Singapore #cryptocurrency #USDT #robbery #trader #Telegram #police #crime #security

🚀 Crypto Investigator Exposes Attempted Post Removal With Fake Court Order
#Crypto #Investigation #Fraud #Robbery #CourtOrder #DigitalSecurity #Journalism #FinancialCrimes #ZachXBT
According to Foresight News, crypto investigator ZachXBT has revealed an attempt to have one of his posts removed. The post in question exposed an individual involved in a $4.3 million robbery in the United Kingdom. The request for removal was accompanied by a purported Brazilian court order, claiming the post violated UK laws. However, ZachXBT identified the court order as a forgery, noting that the case is currently under investigation in the UK and has no connections to Brazil.
ZachXBT expressed relief that the platform, referred to as X, provides notifications about such requests, allowing users to be aware of potential fraudulent activities. This incident highlights the challenges faced by investigators and journalists in the digital space, where attempts to suppress information can involve sophisticated tactics, including the use of fake legal documents. The exposure of this fraudulent attempt underscores the importance of vigilance and verification in the dissemination of information, particularly in cases involving significant financial crimes.#Crypto #Investigation #Fraud #Robbery #CourtOrder #DigitalSecurity #Journalism #FinancialCrimes #ZachXBT
🚀 UK Crypto Broker Escapes Kidnappers By Jumping From Balcony
#Crypto #Kidnapping #Crime #UK #Spain #CryptoBroker #Robbery #Safety #LawEnforcement #Cryptocurrency #CriminalOrganization #DrugTrafficking #Violence
According to Cointelegraph, a UK-based cryptocurrency broker narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt by leaping 30 feet from a balcony. The incident occurred after the broker was lured to an apartment in Estepona, Spain, under the pretense of having drinks. Upon arrival, he was threatened by three British men who demanded $30,917 (30,000 euros) from his clients' accounts, warning him of torture or death if he refused.
The broker cleverly managed to alert authorities by pretending to call a customer for access codes, instead contacting a friend in London. This friend then informed the victim's mother, who alerted the police. Spanish authorities quickly located the apartment. During the police intervention, the broker seized the opportunity to escape by jumping from the balcony, resulting in broken ankles. He was promptly taken to a hospital for medical attention.
A search of the apartment revealed two firearms, 10,000 euros ($10,305), a money counter, three knives, and 25 grams of pink cocaine. The three suspects were arrested and charged with kidnapping, wounding, criminal organization involvement, illegal weapon possession, and drug trafficking. They have been remanded in custody following a court appearance.
This incident highlights a troubling trend of in-person cryptocurrency robberies. In October, blockchain investigator ZachXBT noted an increase in reports of crypto home invasion thefts in Western Europe. Jameson Lopp, co-founder of self-custodial firm Casa, has documented numerous offline crypto robberies globally since 2014, including a notable case involving an attempt to extort 1,000 Bitcoin from computer scientist Hal Finney.
In a recent case, criminals in Brazil forced a couple to transfer $16,000 in cryptocurrency. Lopp's records indicate nine such incidents have occurred this year alone, with 28 reported in 2024, 17 in 2023, and 32 in 2021. These statistics underscore the persistent risk of physical threats faced by individuals involved in the cryptocurrency sector.#Crypto #Kidnapping #Crime #UK #Spain #CryptoBroker #Robbery #Safety #LawEnforcement #Cryptocurrency #CriminalOrganization #DrugTrafficking #Violence
