🚀 Ethereum Developers Discuss Pectra Devnet 5 Specifications

According to Foresight News, Christine Kim, Vice President of Research at Galaxy, summarized the 145th Ethereum Core Developers Consensus (ACDC) call. This week, developers discussed desired changes to the Pectra specifications for inclusion in Pectra Devnet 5. The team noted that Pectra Devnet 4 did not encounter significant issues, and various fixes have been implemented to allow all users to propose blocks on the development network. Additionally, PeerDAS Devnet 3 has been closed after undergoing a reorganization of 100,000 slots. The team is unlikely to launch a new PeerDAS development network before the conclusion of the Ethereum Developers Conference, Devcon.

🚀 Ethereum Developers Confirm Key Updates in Latest Meeting

According to Odaily, Christine Kim, Vice President of Research at Galaxy, summarized the key points from the 201st Ethereum Core Developers Execution (ACDE) call. The meeting confirmed the inclusion of Pectra in EIP 7691, which will double the blob capacity. Additionally, EIP 7623, which increases calldata costs, was also incorporated. However, EIP 7762, which proposes an increase in the minimum blob base fee, was not included, though it may be discussed further in the next ACD meeting.

The call also addressed EIP 7639, which proposes stopping the provision of pre-merge historical records, and EIP 4803, which aims to limit transaction gas. These proposals may relate to Pectra and are pending further discussion. The former is a purely network change, while the latter is a retrospective EIP that will not alter existing client behavior.

Two weeks ago, the Mekong testnet, based on Pectra Devnet 4 specifications, encountered significant issues, prompting all client teams to release fixes. The Mekong testnet is now stable, and developers are focusing on launching Devnet 5. The timeline for Devnet 5 and 6 will be discussed in the Pectra test call scheduled for next Monday.

🚀 Ethereum Developers Address Stability and Fork Parameters in Upcoming Devnet-5

According to PANews, Ethereum developers convened for the 218th Ethereum Execution Layer Core Developers Meeting (ACDE) to review the outcomes of Fusaka Devnet-4 and address stability issues. The meeting set priorities for the forthcoming Devnet-5, focusing on resolving discrepancies in cross-client blob fee calculations, enhancing node diversity, and unifying fork parameter logic through specification updates and static testing.

The developers decided to postpone the scheduling decisions for the Sepolia and Holesky forks until Devnet-5 is finalized, ensuring stability before public testnet releases. The Glamsterdam upgrade is progressing, with ePBS (EIP-7732) and BAL (EIP-7928) confirmed as major proposals, while other proposals like FOCIL are conditionally included.

Discussions also covered improvements to BAL specifications, a more robust ACD pre-testing process, feedback on the "Safe-Head" proposal, and consensus on ModExp repricing and contract size increases, which will undergo stress testing in Devnet-5.

🚀 Ethereum Developers Discuss Fusaka Devnet Progress and Holesky Retirement

According to PANews, Ethereum core developers recently convened for the 219th Ethereum Execution Layer Core Developers Meeting (ACDE), where they discussed several key topics. Tim Beiko summarized the meeting, highlighting the progress on the Fusaka development network (Devnet-3), which is expected to be completed today. The consensus layer team is currently addressing synchronization issues, and another non-finality test is planned for next week. If successful, Devnet-5 will be launched.

The developers also discussed the retirement of Holesky, with plans to decommission it a few weeks after Fusaka is activated on Holesky. A public post will be released to outline the timeline and provide migration guidance.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the gas limit, with a target of reaching 60 million before the Fusaka upgrade. The Glamsterdam update was also discussed, with future meetings set to prioritize client-requested PFI matters.
