Connotations: is the subjective meaning of a word that is dependent on personal cultural emotional context.

Denotation of difficult and challenging is the same. But their connotations are different.
Difficult: means hard to deal with; troublesome.( Negative connotations)
Challenging: it suggests the problems will be overcome.( Positive)

Slim/slender positive
Skinny: negative: unattractive thin
