Opera, an internet browser with support for Web 3.0 applications and a built-in cryptocurrency wallet, has announced its integration with Polygon (MATIC). Its implementation is scheduled for the first quarter of 2022, which will open the Polygon ecosystem to more than 80 million Opera users on Android mobile devices, devices with other operating and various platforms.
Polygon is a Tier 2 Ethereum (ETH) scaling solution designed to lower gas charges and speed up transaction processing times.

✅На официальном форуме разработчики Polygon сообщили, что после обновления Heimdall пользователи столкнулись с прекращением производства блоков. Они подчеркнули, что средства и данные пользователей в безопасности. Позднее разработчики применили временное исправление проблемы и начали работу над долговременным решением.
🔺«Похоже, что баг в обновлении затронул алгоритм консенсуса и валидаторы в сети Heimdall оказались в различных версиях блокчейна, поэтому 2/3 валидаторов не смогли получить доступ к сети Polygon. В рамках алгоритма консенсуса Tendermint такая ситуация привела к тому, что вся сеть остановила свою работу», – пишут разработчики.
📌При этом в Polygon работает несколько уровней сети, каждый из которых выполняет свою роль. Так, по сути, сеть Heimdall обрабатывает транзакции, связанные с валидаторами, и не затрагивает транзакции пользователей. Однако сеть Bor, которая обрабатывает операции пользователей, полагается на Heimdall для определения валидаторов, подтверждающих блок. И, так как сеть Heimdall прекратила работу, то и транзакции пользователей не подтверждались.
☝️В рамках временного решения разработчики вернули основную сеть Polygon к жизни. Однако мост Polygon Bridge для взаимодействия с другими блокчейнами все еще не работает и будет восстановлен только после внедрения финального решения.

Polygon, a popular second layer solution for the Ethereum network, underwent a Heimdall update last night, after which block production stopped for 11 hours.
✅On the official forum, the Polygon developers reported that after the Heimdall update, users faced the cessation of block production. They emphasized that funds and user data are safe. The developers later applied a temporary fix to the problem and began working on a permanent solution.
🔺 “It looks like a bug in the update affected the consensus algorithm and the validators on the Heimdall network ended up on different versions of the blockchain, so 2/3 of the validators could not access the Polygon network. As part of the Tendermint consensus algorithm, this situation led to the fact that the entire network stopped its work,” the developers write.
📌At the same time, Polygon has several network levels, each of which performs its own role. So, in essence, the Heimdall network processes transactions related to validators and does not affect user transactions. However, the Bor network, which processes user transactions, relies on Heimdall to determine the block validators. And, since the Heimdall network stopped working, user transactions were not confirmed either.
☝️As part of a temporary solution, the developers brought the main Polygon network back to life. However, the Polygon Bridge for interaction with other blockchains is still not working and will be restored only after the implementation of the final solution.

Polygon became the first tier-two network whose unique tokens appeared on the largest social network in the world, along with the NFT of the Ethereum blockchain.
✅Facebook users have access to the function of connecting crypto wallets to their accounts. By choosing the Ethereum or Polygon network, they can move the NFT to a new tab - "Digital Collection", as well as release a post about adding a unique token.
Like Twitter, a verified digital asset can be added to an avatar, but Facebook developers have gone further. The social network will support the exchange and NFT, providing all information about the creation of an asset, belonging to a collection, etc. when choosing a token. zkEVM находится на стадии тестирования, запуск намечен на начало 2023 года.

The Polygon project introduced zkEVM, a new technology for scaling transactions on the Ethereum blockchain.
The solution uses zero-knowledge proof when bundling transactions. The technology is fully compatible with smart contracts, tools and wallets of the second largest cryptocurrency by capitalization.
zkEVM is in the testing phase, with a launch scheduled for early 2023.
🔺“The holy grail of Web3 infrastructure should have three main properties: scalability, security, and interoperability with Ethereum,” said Polygon co-founder Mihailo Bjelic in a statement obtained by Decrypt.
He described zkEVM as a "breakthrough technology" opening "a new chapter in mainstream adoption". The solution will reduce the cost of transfers and increase network bandwidth.
🔺“At this stage, it is difficult to provide a performance comparison for zkEVM, but we are working to increase bandwidth to about 2000 TPS,” Bjelic said.
✅ The MATIC token reacted to the news with a slight decrease - over the past day, the asset has lost 1.5%. In seven days, the growth was 69.2% (CoinGecko).
In November 2021, Polygon announced a new layer 2 (L2) solution for Ethereum based on ZK-Rollups and released its central component, a virtual machine using the zk-STARKs protocol as the underlying proof system.
Previously, the project absorbed the Hermez Network platform, which also specializes in L2 based on ZK-Rollups. In December, Polygon acquired Mir Protocol, a startup that develops Ethereum scaling solutions.
