Директива Резервного банка Индии (RBI) о запрете подотчетным организациям оказывать банковские услуги компаниям, имеющим отношение к торговле биткоином и другими криптовалютами, решением Верховного суда страны отменена, сообщает Bloomberg.
Ранее криптовалютные биржи, стартапы и другие представители индустрии обжаловали действовавший с 2018 года запрет. Из-за возникших проблем некоторые из них были вынуждены закрыться или уехать из страны.
✅Как теперь стало известно, суд согласился с доводами представителей криптовалютной индустрии, и это решение можно расценивать как очевидную победу.
Ранее в этом году в RBI подчеркнули, что запрет на обслуживание криптовалютного бизнеса финансовыми учреждениями страны призван защитить компании от рисков, связанных с торговлей цифровыми активами, включая финансирование терроризма и отмывание денег.
☝️Отметим, что в июле 2019 года рабочая группа при правительстве Индии также рекомендовала полный запрет криптовалют, кроме выпускаемых центробанком цифровых токенов. Подготовленный законопроект предполагает наказание за использование криптовалют в виде крупных штрафов или тюремного заключения вплоть до 10 лет.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) directive banning accountable organizations from providing banking services to companies involved in the trading of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies has been repealed by a decision of the country's Supreme Court, Bloomberg reports.
Earlier, cryptocurrency exchanges, start-ups and other industry representatives appealed the ban in force since 2018. Due to the problems encountered, some of them were forced to close or leave the country.
✅As it has now become known, the court agreed with the arguments of the representatives of the cryptocurrency industry, and this decision can be regarded as an obvious victory.
Earlier this year, RBI emphasized that the ban on servicing the cryptocurrency business by the country's financial institutions is designed to protect companies from the risks associated with the sale of digital assets, including the financing of terrorism and money laundering.
☝️ We note that in July 2019, a working group under the Government of India also recommended a complete ban on cryptocurrencies, except for digital tokens issued by the central bank. The prepared bill involves punishment for the use of cryptocurrencies in the form of large fines or imprisonment up to 10 years.
