The Proof-of-Stake blockchain has changed its consensus algorithm to reduce block time and improve performance.
✅According to a press release, the update is codenamed Ithaca 2 and replaces the current consensus algorithm known as Emmy with Tenderbake, which provides faster block times, faster transactions, and smoother applications.
In addition to Tenderbake, Ithaca 2 prepares the Tezos blockchain for scaling efforts such as rollups for WebAssembly and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility with pre-validation, a validation scheme that increases throughput.

The Proof-of-Stake blockchain has changed its consensus algorithm to reduce block time and improve performance.
✅According to a press release, the update is codenamed Ithaca 2 and replaces the current consensus algorithm known as Emmy with Tenderbake, which provides faster block times, faster transactions, and smoother applications.
In addition to Tenderbake, Ithaca 2 prepares the Tezos blockchain for scaling efforts such as rollups for WebAssembly and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility with pre-validation, a validation scheme that increases throughput.
✅According to the press release, the Ithaca 2 update will also reduce the requirement to become a network validator by 25% from 8,000 tez (Tezos digital token) to 6,000 tez, which will strengthen the decentralization of the network.

The Ethereum Foundation has unveiled a timeline for the Ethereum merger, which will be completed in stages, starting with the Bellatrix update on September 6, followed by a formal transition of the blockchain to proof of ownership (PoS) sometime between September 10 and 20.
🔺"The Paris update will be launched from September 10 to September 20, 2022 with a total terminal complexity (TTD) of 5875000000000000000000000. The exact date to reach the TTD depends on the hash rate of the proof of work. Once the execution level reaches or exceeds TTD, the next block will be created by the Beacon Chain validator. The merge transition is considered complete as soon as Beacon Chain completes this block. The Ethereum Foundation invited developers to pre-screen and secure their projects:
