Тестовая сеть первой фазы второй версии протокола Ethereum под названием Medalla в пятницу распалась на четыре цепочки. Это произошло в результате сбоя в клиенте Prysm, которым пользуется большинство валидаторов, сообщает TrustNodes.
🔺«Необходимо, чтобы все клиенты согласились с основной цепочкой. Сейчас царит хаос синхронизации. По данным представителя команды Prysm Рауля Джордана возникло много разных форков, некоторые узлы застряли далеко позади и это привело к многочисленным запросам родительского блока на синхронизацию.
✅В результате сбоя коэффициент валидаторов, которые получают награды от стейкинга тестовых ETH, рухнул с 75% до 5%, а потом и вовсе до нуля.

На момент написания разработчики внесли необходимые исправления. Но первопричина форка, который затронул большинство валидаторов, остается неясной.

The test network of the first phase of the second version of the Ethereum protocol called Medalla split into four chains on Friday. This was due to a glitch in the Prysm client, which most validators use, according to TrustNodes.
🔺 “It is necessary that all customers agree on the main chain. Synchronization chaos now reigns. There are a number of edge cases and fixes that we will roll out over the course of a week to resolve the issues that have arisen, ”commented Adrian Manning, the Lighthouse client for Ethereum 2.0 at the time.
According to a spokesman for the Prysm team, Raul Jordan, there have been many different forks, some nodes stuck far behind and this has led to numerous parent block requests for synchronization.
✅As a result of the failure, the coefficient of validators who receive rewards from staking test ETH dropped from 75% to 5%, and then to zero.
Prysmatic Labs co-founder Preston Van Loon attributed the incident to a bug in the Prysm client that stopped correctly tracking time.
🔺 “At around 17:30 UTC on 14 August, @terencechain noticed that the clock was 4 hours ahead of time. Soon after, our pagers started to go offline, and then custom reports started flooding Discord, ”Wang Lung explained.
At the time of writing, the developers have made the necessary fixes. But the root cause of the fork, which affected most validators, remains unclear.
