The EU Foreign Service's head legal officer has advised a senior official in the department that the recent ruling by the International Court of Justice does not oblige EU countries to ban goods imported from illegal Israeli settlements, according to a leaked analysis cited by The Intercept on 23 October.
The analysis is a contradiction of the ruling issued by the ICJ in July that governments should halt support for Israel's occupation.
That's because they think they are uniquely positioned to disregard law whenever it suits them, they think it doesn't apply to them. Rules apply to everyone else, you see. I think they call this system "rules based order." While it was out there before, the last 3 years really exposed it fully.

Former US President Donald Trump is virtually tied with Vice President Kamala Harris in the race for the White House, according to a new Wall Street Journal poll, which shows the Republican with a slight lead within the survey's margin of error.
The newspaper's national survey put Trump just two percentage points ahead of his Democratic rival, reversing the results of its previous poll in August, the WSJ reported on Wednesday, with less than two weeks left before Election Day.

Top Lebanese official denies Hezbollah agreed to "Lebanon only ceasefire"
Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah is upholding its vow to continue operations against Israel until the war in Gaza is brought to an end.
The office of Lebanon's Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri denied on 27 October media reports claiming that Hezbollah has agreed to split the Lebanese front from Gaza and agree to a separate ceasefire deal.
"What was reported by one of the media stations, attributed to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri about the negotiations, is inaccurate," Berri's office said in a statement on Sunday evening.
Here's another thing currently not worth discussing, because nothing happened. I suspect Israel is too deep in to be able to go back now. Not only that, but they're still threatening other countries. This war, unfortunately, is not near its end.
