Adriana Abreu, wife of Guillermo López, regional coordinator of the Vente Venezuela party in Trujillo state, gave a statement in front of the El Helicoide building in Caracas. During her remarks, Abreu denounced that her husband's arrest is solely due to his work in favor of democratic change in the country.

Her testimony was marked by the family's emotional distress over his imprisonment: Abreu explained that her 4-year-old son is unaware of his father's situation, having been told that he is on a "secret mission."

She also lamented that López has missed crucial moments in their son's development because of his incarceration. Guillermo López's family joins the call of the families of other detainees, demanding that the rights and freedoms of all political prisoners in Venezuela be respected.

🇻🇪 — The Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, admits weakness in Venezuela’s defense:

“As Trump said from Davos, Switzerland, they used against us weapons that had never been used on a battlefield, weapons that no one else in the world had. This resulted in Venezuela becoming the laboratory for those weapons.”

Leaked audio of Delcy:

- The regime never imagined a US intervention in Caracas so flawless and devastating.

- Diosdado, Jorge, and Delcy had 15 minutes to decide whether to cooperate with the US or not, under the threat of being neutralized.

⚡️🇺🇸🇻🇪Bloomberg: Western investors in Venezuelan oil face the diplomatic issue that the U.S. and several other countries do not recognize the Rodriguez government as the legitimate government.

Rather on paper they recognize several opposition figures as forming the legitimate government, which will cause issues during legal disputes over investments.

Until the U.S. officially recognizes the current Venezuelan government, U.S. companies will not make long term investments in the country out of fear for the security of those investments.

🛢 🇺🇸 🇨🇺 Trump administration weighs naval blockade to halt Cuban oil imports

That escalation has been sought by some critics of the Cuban government in the administration and backed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to two of the three people, who were granted anonymity to discuss the sensitive discussions. No decision has been made on whether to approve that move, but it could be among the suite of possible actions presented to President Donald Trump to force the end of Cuba’s communist government, these people added.

Preventing shipments of crude oil to the island would be a step-up from Trump’s statement last week that the U.S. would halt Cuba’s imports of oil from Venezuela, which had been its main crude supplier.

The loss of Venezuelan oil shipments — and the resale of some of those cargoes that Havana used to obtain foreign currency — has already throttled Cuba’s laggard economy. A total blockade of oil imports into Cuba could then spark a humanitarian crisis, a possibility that has led some in the administration to push back against it.

⚡️ “Energy is the chokehold to kill the regime,” said one person familiar with the plan who was granted anonymity to describe the private discussions. Deposing the country’s communist government – in power since the Cuban revolution in 1959 – is “100 percent a 2026 event” in the administration’s eyes, this person added.

In La Quebradita de San Martín, with candles in hand and the photograph of activist José Riera, his sisters and relatives held a heartfelt vigil to denounce the uncertainty surrounding his case.

Riera was detained on July 26, 2025, and after months of institutional silence, his family still hasn't received an official response confirming his whereabouts.

Although they suspect he is being held in the local police center, the lack of information from the State has motivated his sisters to demand not only his immediate release, but also an urgent presumption of life.

This vigil joins the multiple demonstrations of faith and resistance of this day, where Venezuelan families reiterate that they will not rest until justice is obtained for those who have been deprived of their freedom for political reasons.
