Prisoners held at the July 26 Penitentiary Center, located in Guárico state, have denounced alleged abuses and acts of corruption attributed to the penitentiary director Marcel González, whom they accuse of profiting from the distribution of food within the prison.
According to testimonies shared by the inmates, prison authorities have repeatedly suspended visits and the entry of food by family members, a measure that — they claim — is intended to force prisoners to buy food inside the prison at "exorbitant" prices.
The inmates point out that the director himself would be controlling these sales, taking advantage of the need and scarcity to obtain personal profits. They also assert that the money collected is being used to set up private businesses outside the prison

Trump said on Monday that he is "looking forward" to meeting with María Corina Machado, who, according to the president, would be arriving at the White House on Tuesday or Wednesday.
On the other hand, he referred to Delcy Rodríguez as "very kind".
"Venezuela is really working. Well, we're working very well with the leadership and we'll see how everything works (...) At some point I'll meet with her (Delcy). She's been very kind. She asked us: 'Can we accept 50 million barrels of oil?'. And I said yes. It's $4.2 billion. And they're already on their way to the United States."
