This is not medical advice. This is my opinion. I am not a Doctor. This is also not necessarily the opinion of the admin of this group, Alexia_Icen; She may disagree or agree with my opinion.
You can certainly use boron supplements, typically the supplements are at a dosage of 3mg. The clinical trials that have been done used 6mg per day and showed good results. Search ncbi.nlm.nih.gov for boron trials.
The price is roughly $20 for a 30 day supply of capsules.
Dr Jorge Flechas MD PHD has a great video on 'Boron and Oral Health' on YouTube! In that video, he tells you how people in Isreal get 10-30mg of Boron per day in their drinking water, if they drink 1-3 liters of water per day and have zero side effects and the country as a whole has near zero incidence of arthritis, osteo-arthritis, & osteoporosis. In Turkey, they ingest 30-60mg per day. Using clinical trials and evidence, he makes the case for giving higher therapeutic doses to americans who only get 1.19mg per day on average.
If you take boron and do a urinalysis 24hrs later, and you find less than 10% excretion, you body is soaking it up. If more than 10% is excreted than, lower the dosage. He has found that people can tolerate with good affect, up to the 75mg range for a number of months before lowering the dosage.
If you were to do that with boron glutamate from some brands, it would cost you ~$20 a day. Whereas, Boric acid is ~$60 for 907,185mg. So it is cost effective.
Technical grade Boric acid (here's an example): (https://www.factorydirectchemicals.com/products/99-pure-boric-acid-orthoboric-acid-boracic-acid?_pos=1&_sid=594910545&_ss=r&variant=5807345924)
Boric acid aka orthoboric acid is H3BO3 and when combined with (HCL) stomach acid becomes elemental Boron and safely absorbes into the body like any Boron supplement. So identifying boric acid as safe to ingest is no easy task for some since it's sold as bug pesticide, however talking to chemists, it is easy!
How much of a dosage of boric acid becomes the next question. The boron content of H3BO3 is found here: (http://npic.orst.edu/factsheets/archive/borictech.html)
It is 17.48% . Therefore, 429mg of boric acid H3BO3 is equivalent to 75mg of elemental boron after reacting with stomach acid.
This is in line with some things I have seen, where they say 1/16 teaspoon of boric acid in warm water twice daily I believe. That would be around that 75mg Boron / 429mg boric acid level. This is an amount that the kidneys can absolutely handle filtering out if you were already saturated with the proper amount in the body. To state it differently, if you were saturated and were excreting more than 10% of the dosage in a urinalysis 24hrs after dosing.
Also important, the toxicity of Boron, as proved in Dr Jorge Flechas videos, is 20,000mg in one dose for an Adult. 3,000mg in one dose for a child. So if one were to ingest 429mg or less of boric acid or 75mg of boron, an adult would be ingesting, 0.375% of what would be dangerous. A child would be ingesting 2.5% of what would be dangerous.
