1️⃣ Israeli cabinet ministers attend the “Return to Gaza” conference to plan illegal settlements on the land of recently destroyed Palestinian communities.

2️⃣A drone attack has killed three US service members at a military base near the Jordanian-Syrian border; US President Joe Biden vows to “hold all those responsible to account”.

3️⃣ Israel pushes on with its assault on Khan Younis as more Palestinians are forced into dangerously overcrowded Rafah in southern Gaza.

4️⃣ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu describes renewed talks on the captive exchange as “constructive”, but says gaps remain.

5️⃣ Iran has denied any involvement in a drone strike that killed three US soldiers near the Jordan-Syria border.

6️⃣ Ardi Imseis, an assistant professor of international law at Queen’s University in Canada, has said that the Israeli political establishment is displaying “complete disdain” for the “rules-based international legal order” with regards to illegal Israeli settlements.

At least 26,422 people including more than 10,000 children, have been killed and over 65,087 injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The revised death toll from the October 7 attack in Israel stands at 1,139.

⚡️Three African Sahel countries have withdrawn from the ECOWAS alliance.

🇳🇪🇲🇱🇧🇫 Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso said they are leaving the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) with immediate effect. A joint statement by the three countries was read out on Niger's national television, Reuters writes.

"After 49 years, the valiant peoples of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger note with regret and great disappointment that the ECOWAS organization has departed from the ideals of its founding fathers and the spirit of Pan-Africanism," Colonel Amadou Abdraman, a spokesman for Niger's authorities, said in a statement.

🥷 Abdramana added that the organization has failed to help these states in their fight against terrorism and secure their territories. Mali and Burkina Faso warned of plans to leave the Economic Community of West African States as early as August last year.

"Any military intervention against Niger would lead to the withdrawal of Burkina Faso and Mali from ECOWAS, as well as the adoption of legitimate defense measures in support of the armed forces and the people of Niger," that statement read.

The transitional governments of the Sahel countries expressed support for Niger following the July 26, 2023 coup d'état there that overthrew President Mohamed Bazoum and imprisoned him in his presidential residence. Abdurahmane Tchiani became head of the transitional government.

ECOWAS demanded that President Mohamed Bazoum be returned to power within a week, effectively issuing an ultimatum to the new authorities in the Niger. If the demand was not met, the Union threatened Niger to use "all measures," including military action. 🎮

Although military measures were never applied, ECOWAS subjected Niger to harsh sanctions. According to Louise Oben, the UN Resident Coordinator in Niger, this has led to the country "quickly running out of funding, of medicine. People are running out of food."

On the eve of the ECOWAS withdrawal announcement, Niger held a meeting of the Sahel Security Alliance.

💥 Ukrainian positions in Pyatikhatki, Novoandreyevka, Malaya Tokmachka, Charovne and Gulyaypol are under attack .
💥 Russian positions are in #Zherebyanka, #Novoprokopovka and #Dorozhnyanka. (Fig. 1)

🔹In the #Ugledar Section, the RF Armed Forces attacked #Staromayorskoye after shelling. There were also attempts to advance towards Zolotaya Niva. ⚠️The frontline is "coming back to life".
💥 Russian artillery worked on the AFU in #Levadnoye, Zelyonoye Pole, #Bogoyavlenka and #Vodyanoye (not to be confused with the settlement of the same name west of Donetsk).
💥 The Ukrainian fired at Russian positions in #Priyutnoye, Zavetnoye Zhelaniye and #Novomayorskoye. (Fig. 2)

🔹On the #Donetsk Front, with the support of long range weapons, they continued their assault operations near #Novomikhaylovka, #Georgiyevka and #Pervomayskoye. There was an ⚠️attempt to advance to #Tonenkoye. After the artillery attacks, #Avdeevka is being attacked from the southeast, seeking to expand the bridgehead on the outskirts of the city. To the north, the RF Armed Forces are ⚠️advancing in the area of #Stepovoye (not to be confused with the settlements of the same name in the Zaporozhye and Ugledar directions).
💥 The AFU is under strikes in #Pobeda, #Maksimilyanovka, #Berdychi and Nyu-York (#Novgorodskoye).
💥 The RF Armed Forces, in #Donetsk and the village of #Krasnogorovka. (Fig. 3)

🔹In the #Lugansk Direction, Russian forces attacked #Belogorovka from the southeast and northeast after shelling. ⚠️Without success. The same actions near #Torskoye also ⚠️did not lead to a positive result for the RF Armed Forces. Russian troops also attacked near #Yampolovka, #Terny and #Stelmakhovka. There was activity virtually throughout the frontline. To the north, Russian forces ⚠️took #Tabayevka and ⚠️advanced in the area of #Sinkovka. (Fig. 4)
