According to the newspaper, Washington has said that there is a path to asset confiscation “in accordance with international law.”

“Members of the G7 and other particularly affected states may seize Russian sovereign assets as a countermeasure to induce Russia to cease its aggression,” the US government said in a letter circulated to G7 committees.

The publication, citing officials, writes that the United States has begun “active negotiations” on this and is leading to the fact that this issue will be brought up for discussion at the next summit of the G7 leaders.

The next such summit is planned to be held on June 13-15 in Italy.

“Holding positions does not matter, the main thing is that more Ukrainians remain alive,” the source said.

“What we are seeing in general is a controlled retreat with fighting,” Bild quotes a former military adviser to one of the Western countries who advised the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
