Fun little fact or rumour I should say, for my fellow Melbournians. According to rumours there is a tunnel under The Shrine of Remembrance that leads to Victoria Barracks.
Victoria Barracks construction started in 1856 supposedly, and The Shrine of Remembrance started construction in 1928, supposedly.
I did a little research and found a random forum of someone saying that apparently when VicRoads was commencing construction on an underground tunnel for road infrastructure in 2009, they encountered an issue with this supposed tunnel blocking it’s path.
I don’t know for sure if there is one, but it wouldn’t surprise me, and if so, I wonder what purposes they are using it for.

Giant Sloth Milk in Patagonia
https://x.com/1_analog_9/status/1579457822647283712/photo/1
"The Patagonians, wild, powerfully built Indians, had succeeded in domesticating the giant sloth, the mylodon, whose amiable disposition and gigantic bulk had made it possible for the prehistoric natives to fence this huge mammal in a cave where they fed it with cut grass and milked it—perhaps a barrel or more at a milking.
"This sloth was one of the stupidest animals that ever lived on the face of the earth. For that reason it was easily tamed. Its dimensions seemed to correspond closely to the animals I had found."
Well, that was Richard D'Orsay's story. You can bet it left me gasping.
Dick will, I know, attempt to return to that same valley in the Lianganati region and perhaps photograph the monster.

Buongiorno anime belle🌷
🇭🇲 Sweet people are not naive. Nor are they stupid. Nor are they helpless. On the contrary, they are so strong that they can afford not to wear any masks. They are free to be vulnerable, to feel emotions, to take the risk of being happy.

🇬🇧 The Bimini Road, or the Lost City of Atlantis
This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bimini because of the mystery surrounding the site. In the 1930s, an American psychic named Edgar Cayce reported that he had spoken with a person who had lived in the Lost City of Atlantis in a former life. This Atlantean told Cayce that Atlantis had been near Bimini. Cayce predicted that portions of the temples of Atlantis would become visible near Bimini in '68 or '69.
When a private pilot flying over the waters near North Bimini reported seeing a strange parallel structure in shallow water, many people believed these were either walls from Atlantis or a mysterious road leading to Atlantis. And, thus, the mystery of the Atlantis Road was born.

🇬🇧 Pushkin's Last Duel
The poet Pushkin took part in many duels and lost his life to the man who was rumored to be his wife's lover.
Alexander Pushkin was born in 1799 in Moscow, to a noble family. He was a famous poet, writer and playwright, considered the great poet or the star of Russian poetry. Throughout his life, he participated in numerous duels. Although illegal, these duels were very common at the time.
The philosopher Mikhail Seleznyov wrote in his biography of Pushkin that the great Russian poet fought in 26 duels. However, historians have only been able to verify five of them. In most cases, Pushkin and his opponent made peace or did not come to an agreement and then called off the duel. However, the duel of 1836 ended in tragedy.
The origin was rumors that his wife, Natalia Goncharova, was having an affair. In November 1836, an anonymous article circulated claiming that Pushkin had been "deceived". Pushkin believed that the French officer Georges d'Anthès was his wife's secret lover. Pushkin met Natalia in 1828, when she was 16 years old. She was one of the most famous beauties of Russia.
Georges d'Anthès's ties to the Russian royal family and his physical attractiveness allowed him access to the St. Petersburg high society, then the capital of the Russian Empire. To defend his honor from the rumors, Pushkin challenged d'Anthès to a duel to the death.
The duel took place in Chernaya Rechka, a suburb of St. Petersburg, and the conditions were very harsh. In other European countries, duelists usually shoot at a distance of 25 to 30 steps, but in this case, the distance was only 10 steps. D'Anthès fired first and seriously wounded Pushkin in the abdomen. Pushkin fell to the ground, but managed to return fire at his opponent, grazing D'Anthès's right hand. The poet died two days after the duel.
The Tsar tried to take care of Pushkin's family after his death. He settled his debts, decreed a one-time pension of 10,000 rubles for the family, provided maintenance for his widow Natalia and her daughters, and took the poet's son as his personal assistant and stripped d'Anthès of his military rank and banished him from Russia.
