🇬🇧 Tartariae Imperium / Empire of Tartary 1596
The Tartariae Imperium, first appearing in Magini’s Geographiae Universae tum Veteris tum Novae Absolutissimum in 1596, is a fantastic illustration that shows the Tartarian land mass and covers much of the area we now call Russia. And as all maps do, this has some interesting geographic locations.
Antonio was a well known and respected cartographer, astrologer and mathematician. He was born in Padua, Italy and studied philosophy in Bologna. He went on to beat Galileo Galilei for the chair of mathematics at the same university before he died in 1617. He had an accomplished life, publishing works on trigonometry and even inventing his own calculator. One of his passions and legacy was to create an atlas of Italy which was printed posthumously in 1620.
Firstly, the most obvious interest is the presence of Alaska on a map from 1596. The official history for Alaska varies, but it is widely accepted that Europeans were not aware of Alaska until the Great Northern Expedition, when Vitus Bering, along with Aleksei Chirikov, sighted the southern coast of Alaska on July 15, 1741. This sighting occurred near present-day Kayak Island and marked the first confirmed European sighting of Alaska.

🇭🇲 The architecture of the Old World
How could men have built something like this with nothing but primitive tools?
The truth is that they didn't build it, but simply rediscovered it...

In totale potevano salire contemporaneamente 2160 passeggeri!

🇬🇧 Philosophy, Truth and Totality in Republic 485a-486d
Philosophy cannot afford to omit any part of reality. To conform oneself and voluntarily renounce some of its portions is inadmissible, because the lover of Truth loves that which is whole and complete. Truth can never be partial, relative or subjective; it is, by nature, total, unconditional and absolute.
Therefore, any attachment to the particular and small constitutes a form of meanness, since paying attention to the relative stands as an obstacle for the soul that aspires to the totality and the all of the divine and the human.
There is nothing more akin to wisdom than truth, and it is precisely that which the philosopher, the lover of wisdom, loves. Therefore, his effort lies in staying high as the eagle in the contemplation of that which collects causally and mainly to all things, to that which is not conditioned by any of the conditions that affect any affective agency. For him, not even human life or death are important, because the codependency of both life and death signify the limitation of one to the other, its partiality and its absence of therefore totality.
Orienting the feeling, the opinion, the knowledge, the being and the existence to the Truth is what defines the soul life of the one who loves wisdom. He does not forget anything because his memory is the most excellent, the one that remembers that which exceeds and that is, moreover, the only principle of all things.
