🇬🇧 She Who Stands at the Four Corners

Long before iron and empire, before it was pinned to uniforms and carved into medals, the pattée cross marked a subtler axis. Its flared arms—reaching evenly outward from a silent center—mapped more than conquest. Found in early Celtic carvings, Byzantine mosaics, and Eastern Roman talismans, this shape wasn’t decoration. It was instruction: balance, rhythm, and orientation in space and time.

Ancient cosmologies held the world as a fourfold unfolding—of elements, seasons, winds, and turning stars. The pattée cross made this visible. Not chaotic, not ornamental, but geometric harmony radiating from stillness. Its presence in cymatic patterns—those forms etched by vibration into matter—hints at something deeper: the universe as sound made stable, the world as resonance held in form. This cross doesn’t cut; it conducts. It channels.

In French, it’s la croix pattée. Feminine. Not merely linguistic but symbolic. From patte, meaning paw or foot, its name speaks of grounding, of feet planted. The feminine form implies more than receptivity—it suggests containment, coherence, a womb-like firmness. This isn’t a contradiction to its martial legacy. It’s a reminder of its older role: not as a badge of violence, but as a structure that holds space, shields order, and radiates life outward like breath from a still point.

Hranice Abyss near Hranice, Czech Republic🇨🇿

Hranice Abyss (Czech: Hranická propast) is the deepest flooded pit cave in the world. It is a karst sinkhole near the town of Hranice, Czech Republic. The greatest confirmed depth is 519.5 m (1,704 ft), of which 450 m (1,476 ft) is underwater. Analysis of the water found carbon and helium isotopes which implied that the cave has been formed by acidic waters, heated by the mantle, welling up from below.

In August 2022, another project was launched to determine the depth. A sonar diving robot from the company UNEXMIN GeoRobotics Ltd. succeeded in penetrating to a depth of 450 metres. For technical reasons, deeper exploration was not possible.

The total depth of the abyss is unknown, as the lower part of the abyss is flooded by the Hranice Lake.

🇬🇧 Lake Titicaca, located in the heights of the Andes, is much more than a simple body of water

It used to be salty. How could this lake (full of seawater at that time and therefore at sea level) be at an altitude of 3800 meters? Fascinating geological evidence, such as marine fossils and a vegetation adapted to salt, line the shores of this lake, evoking a mysterious past where salt water dominated.

In addition, archaeological remains, such as docks in Tiahuanaco, suggest that this region once housed an active seaport, adding a layer of mystery to the already intriguing history of Lake Titicaca.
