Anna of Świdnica

Anna of Świdnica, born in 1339, was the only Piast princess to become Roman Empress. As the granddaughter of Władysław Łokietek, she had deep roots in the Piast dynasty. Her marriage to Charles IV in 1353 made her Roman Empress and Queen of Bohemia. This marriage strengthened the political and territorial ties between the Piast and Luxembourg dynasties. Anna played a decisive role in European diplomacy and politics. Her death in 1362 was a great loss for the empire. Anna left a lasting impression on history and is often recognised for her political foresight and diplomatic influence. Her story is a testament to the power and influence of the Piast dynasty in Central Europe.
