#NEWS | Politico reported that the EU countries are actively working on the legal framework to intercept and arrest tankers, which are part of the Russian oil-transporting 'shadow fleet' of old, poorly maintained, and often uninsured vessels.

In response, deputy head of the Russian Parliament's Defense Committee Aleksey Zhuravlyov just claimed that 'any attack on the Russian carriers in the Baltic Sea should be considered as an attack on Russia.'

Russia's 'shadow fleet' of old tankers came into existence after almost all the major maritime companies refused to transport Russian oil or service vessels that are engaged in these activities - due to the US sanctions.

Lately, tankers belonging to the fleet experienced a series of accidents - some are suspicious, some happened due to their obvious poor technical condition. That creates substantial ecological and financial risks, as the vessels carry toxic materials and do not have proper insurance to cover damages.

Trump Says No Right Of Return For Palestinians In Gaza Under His Plan

Egypt has called an emergency Arab summit in response to Trump's repeated calls for the permanent displacement of Gaza's Palestinians

In an interview that aired Monday, President Trump explicitly said Palestinians would not have the right to return to Gaza under his plan for the US to “take over” the territory.

When asked by Fox News host Brett Baier if the Palestinians would have the right to return to Gaza, Trump said, “No, they wouldn’t because they’re going to have much better housing. In other words, I’m talking about building a permanent place for them.”

The interview was taped on Saturday, and Trump made similar comments the following day while aboard Air Force One. “It’s a big mistake to allow the Palestinians or the people to be living in Gaza to go back yet another time,” he said on Sunday.

Trump’s repeated comments that Palestinians would be removed permanently, which means ethnic cleansing, contradict the White House , which said Palestinians would only be “temporarily relocated” during reconstruction.

In the interview with Baier, Trump insisted he could make a deal with Jordan and Egypt despite the strong opposition from Arab states and Palestinians themselves . “I think I could make a deal with Jordan, I think I could make a deal with Egypt. You know, we give them billions and billions of dollars a year,” he said.

The US Should Not Take Over Gaza

USAID Shutdown Causing Funding Shortage For Ukrainian, Russian ‘Independent’ Media

Donald Trump’s shutdown of USAID has had a significant impact on several media outlets in Russia and Ukraine. Worldwide, the agency has provided nearly a half-billion in funds to media outlets.

“The suspension of USAID has had a dramatic effect on both Ukrainian and Russian independent news outlets that relied on the grants to operate and produced work often critical of their governments,” the Washington Post reports .

The Post labels the outlets as “independent” even though the article explains they were dependent on the US government for funding. Within days of Trump ordering a freeze on foreign assistance programs, several Ukrainian outlets began requesting donations.

The article adds, “Some organizations are saying that they are just weeks away from slashing staff or closing down entirely.”

The funding for Ukrainian and Russian outlets are just part of a global network. “USAID has pushed nearly half a billion dollars ($472.6m) through a secretive US government financed NGO, ‘Internews Network’ (IN),” Wikileaks posted on X. “Which has “worked with” 4,291 media outlets, producing in one year 4,799 hours of broadcasts reaching up to 778 million people and “training” over 9000 journalists (2023 figures).”

While USAID funding projects are often portrayed by the US government and the Post as “democracy building,” the money is often given to organizations that promote Washington’s objectives, even at times, subverting democratic election results.
