"Israel still permits farmers to use poultry feces, feathers and chicken coop food scraps as cattle feed, despite the practice being banned in the European Union, the UK, Switzerland, Canada, Japan, Namibia, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Agriculture Ministry permits 43,000 tons of what it calls poultry manure to be fed to calves and cows each year, according to Freedom of Information data obtained by the animal rights organization, Animals Now.
The progressive group launched a public education campaign against the practice on Sunday called “Eat less meat, eat less shit,” with posts on social media and posters plastered on the streets of Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan. Animals Now said 43,000 tons of the taboo ingredients is equivalent to over 1,400 full trucks parked bumper to bumper on the more than 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) it takes to travel from Tel Aviv to Netanya.
Many countries have banned the practice to stop pathogens and residues from heavy metals, pesticides and antibiotics from getting into beef.
However, according to Animals Now, farms in the Israeli meat industry mix food with up to three kilograms (6.6 pounds) of poultry feces daily for beef calves. In the dairy industry, cows are fed feces for their first two years, the organization added.
The regulations note that Clostridium botulinum is not eliminated during the curing or thermal heating process that the manure must undergo before it is used for feed.
Therefore, they instruct cattle breeders to vaccinate livestock against this toxic bacterium, although, they admit that vaccinations do not provide total protection."

Australia’s hate law rewrites justice into a guessing game where imagined offense can cost you five years of your life.
On January 12, Australia’s Attorney-General Michelle Rowland stepped to the podium and announced what she called “the toughest hate laws Australia has ever seen.”
The government plans to push its Combatting Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill 2026 through Parliament on January 20, turning Australia’s speech laws into something that reads more like a psychological test than a criminal code.

The same week Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was praising Iranians “standing up for their human rights,” his government was preparing to criminalize speech at home even when no one’s rights or feelings had actually been touched.
The bill’s centerpiece is a new racial vilification offense. It bans “publicly promoting or inciting hatred” based on race, color, or national or ethnic origin, with penalties of up to five years in prison.
The measure’s core novelty is what it removes: proof of harm.
It’s “immaterial,” the draft says, whether “the conduct actually results in hatred” or whether anyone “actually” feels intimidated or fears harassment.
The courts will instead consider what a hypothetical “reasonable” member of the targeted group would feel, even if no such person exists in the case.
Prosecutors, the explanatory note clarifies, “would not be required to prove” any real fear at all.
The message: you can go to prison for causing theoretical discomfort in a theoretical person....
That five-year penalty isn’t for causing harm; it’s for crossing a line no one can quite locate.
The one solid shield in this maze of liability is religion. The offense “does not apply to conduct that consists only of directly quoting from, or otherwise referencing, a religious text for the purpose of religious teaching or discussion.”
Everyone else is left to improvise a defense under the general “good faith” clauses...

The new 2026 “Combating Antisemitism, Hate and Extremism Bill” punishes speech that causes fear— even if no harm occurs— with up to 5 years in prison.
It gets worse.
The law applies to nearly everything: tweets, blogs, memes, even quoting scripture online. It explicitly states that it doesn’t matter if anyone actually felt hatred or fear.
And it allows the government to go back in time and charge people for things they said before the law existed.
The bill also gives police power to ban groups without due process —including groups outside Australia—and to imprison citizens for up to 15 years for “supporting” them.

Satellite Images Confirm Israel is Expanding its Occupation of Gaza Beyond the 'Yellow Line'

A Haaretz report published on 15 January confirms that, based on satellite images, Israel has pushed the "yellow line" deep into the Gaza Strip and expanded the area of its control. According to the British organization Forensic Architecture, since the ceasefire and as of mid-December, Israeli occupation forces have set up 13 new outposts inside the Gaza Strip, including two large positions in the Jabalia area. These outposts are tall and highly visible in the landscape, offering a wide field of view over the surrounding territory.
Their construction required demolishing buildings, clearing land, and using heavy engineering equipment to create elevated earthworks from which much of northern Gaza can be monitored. Palestinians have shared videos online documenting these outposts.
Satellite images also indicate that since the cease-fire, Israeli forces have continued to demolish hundreds of additional buildings in Jabalia, particularly around the Indonesian Hospital. Most of the destruction is on the Israeli side of the "yellow line", as shown in the Israeli military's official publications, but it is evident that many more buildings west of the line have also been destroyed.

Ken Klippenstein: I Was Disappeared - But Not by ICE or the FBI
Today I woke up to the realization that I had been disappeared.
Not by ICE or the FBI (whom I expect a third visit from at some point — maybe I should ask them for a punchcard so I can get an award at number five?), but by my own colleagues!
NBC News did a story today about a Justice Department directive signed by Pam Bondi targeting “radical gender ideology, anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism…[and] anti-Christianity” — all a part of NSPM-7 , as I’ve been covering for months. NBC’s initial story acknowledged that Bondi’s order was “ first published by journalist Ken Klippenstein,” but the sentence that was swiftly (and silently) removed.
You can see for yourself, thanks to Google’s caching of the initial version of NBC’s article, shown below. NBC’s current article now says only that the memo was “obtained by NBC News,” with no explanation given for why the sentence was quietly and intentionally removed.
And for all its preening, NBC didn’t even enclose a copy of the memo it’s bragging about having “obtained”! (You can read the memo, which I published in full last December, here .)
I’ve been purged!
In all seriousness, it’s more amusing than anything and, I won’t lie, gratifying that to see a multibillion dollar media conglomerate have to follow up on something I reported weeks ago. But the reason why NBC and other big media types do this kind of thing is interesting and worth thinking about.
There’s the usual bitchy reasons: ‘Why are we crediting a nobody?’ ‘He’s an activist.’ And my personal favorite, ‘He’s just a blogger’. This particular diss resulted in the funniest update to an article citing my work that I’ve ever seen.
It’s a good question: what does “blog” even mean these days? As far as I can tell, it’s just a word for reporting that wasn’t sanctioned by the lumbering dinosaurs of legacy media.
All of this is a good reminder of not just how lame these old school media outlets are, but also the reality that they see themselves as the gatekeeper of what you get to know. They intentionally ignore what wasn’t “invented here” or doesn’t fit with their vanilla view of the world. That can just as much mean that they’ll miss the Mamdani phenomenon or the emergence of another Donald Trump (if it happens) or, say, all of the leaked ICE documents I’ve been publishing here exclusively this past week.
Legacy media’s dereliction is by design. That’s sad but also an affirmation of the importance of what I’m doing here. The only downside to not being a big media reporter is not having big media money; but I do have you guys.
