If you are a strong coder, fluent in Java and/or Python, and have a strong interest in algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI), you may be interested in this opportunity, which is funded by a 2024 MBIE Smart Ideas Endeavour Fund project.

The scholarships offer foreign graduates from development and newly industrialised countries from all disciplines and with at least two years' professional experience the chance to take a postgraduate or Master's degree at a state or state-recognised German university, and in exceptional cases to take a doctoral degree, and to obtain a university qualification (Master's/PhD) in Germany.

This project aims to provide robust solutions for energy infrastructure by developing algorithms that can optimise complex infrastructure based on predicted energy supply and demand, while dealing with associated uncertainties. It will build on existing modelling tools for energy storage and prediction, such that they can deal with non-linear objectives and constraints.

The prospective student should have a strong background in energy networks and/or the design and application of optimisation algorithms such as mixed integer programming or heuristics search algorithms. To deal with stochastic aspects of the problems and algorithms, strong mathematical knowledge is also required.

Be a part of the Australian Research Council Training Centre for Current and Emergent Quantum Technologies. The Centre has been funded to support 12 Higher Degree by Research students who will undertake inter-disciplinary research in biology, engineering and physics aspects of quantum technologies. Projects include the development of quantum light sources, quantum detectors and sensing, with applications in timing and communications, biology, quantum circuits and quantum computing.
