Because many are asking: Yes, there was brief direct contact between Araqchi and the American delegation in the 'reception room', where hands were shaken and greetings exchanged—as is common practice

But the actual negotiations took part by exchanging messages through Oman's Foreign Minister, Al-Busaidi.

Furthermore, Araqchi refused to allow U.S. CENTCOM commander to attend negotiations (as stated above) but agreed eventually in order to respect the host country. Araqchi didn't shake his hand, unlike he did with Witkoff and Kushner.

Iran's version of 'no nuclear weapons' includes the right to peaceful uranium enrichment, which is recognized by the UN.
