A similar meeting was reportedly planned a week ago but was thwarted by Israel.

Israeli officials are unhappy about not being included in the discussions and worry about a direct communication line between the U.S. and Hamas.

After the news leaked, Trump first threatened Hamas and then asserted a few hours ago that the talks aimed to 'help Israel.'
