Image Processing Specialist

Description

  

University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking an Image Processing Specialist (Senior Research Analyst). The selected candidate is responsible for image processing, developing processing pipelines, enhancing, maintaining, and documenting customized signal and image processing software at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine related to ongoing research studies. This includes writing customized user interfaces for various skills sets and educational backgrounds. Supervise and perform analysis of data collected by faculty and staff as part of ongoing research studies. Provide software and computer support to department personnel including but not limited to determining data processing needs as well as training faculty and staff.

Essential Functions:

Designs and implements all aspects of novel, complex and customized signal and image processing algorithms. Documents each of the software packages that are developed. Designs, implements and documents all aspects of Graphical User Interfaces (GUI’s) for the use of novel signal and image processing algorithms. These algorithms will be utilized by users with varying skill sets and educational backgrounds.Assists Principal Investigator (PI), faculty and staff to determine data processing needs and solve technology problems. Provides cost estimates upon request for commercial and customized software as well as hardware.Interacts with other IT personnel at the School of Medicine. Oversees data assistants and other staff on specific tasks such as testing of software packages and user interfaces, and data processing. Trains staff and faculty in proper use of novel GUI’s. Assists research associates and data collection staff with problems related to customized software programs. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field of study. Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience such as in signal and/or image processing and data acquisition, in a clinical research environment, processing of digital MR imaging data. Prior experience in instruction of computer usage and computer software maintenance, and network infrastructure maintenance is preferred. 

Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.

Competition Description
While It's pretty easy for people to identify subtle differences in photos, computers still have a ways to go. Visually similar items are tough for computers to count, like this overlapping bunch of bananas



Or consider this photo of a family of foxes camouflaged in the wild - where do the foxes end and where does the grass begins?
To solve this problem and enhance the state of the art in object detection and classification, the annual ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC) began in 2010. This year, Kaggle is excited and honored to be the new home of the official ImageNet Object Localization competition. Participants are challenged with identifying all objects within an image, so those images can then be classified and annotated.

Already, because of this competition, there’s been a 4.2× reduction in image classification error (from 28.2% to 6.7%) and a 1.7× reduction in localization error (from 42.5% to 25.3%) between 2010 and 2014 alone. Can you improve the accuracy even further?

Competition Overview
The validation and test data will consist of 150,000 photographs, collected from Flickr and other search engines, hand labeled with the presence or absence of 1000 object categories. The 1000 object categories contain both internal nodes and leaf nodes of ImageNet, but do not overlap with each other.

A random subset of 50,000 of the images with labels will be released as the training set along with a list of the 1000 categories. The remaining images will be used as the test set.

The validation and test data for this competition are not contained in the ImageNet training data.

ابزارهای کلان داده

الگو های ذخیره سازی کلان داده:

الگوی Facade : سیستم فایل توزیع شده هدوپ HDFS از الگوی نوبتی Facade برای رسیدگی به انباره داده های قدیمی استفاده میکند.

الگوی Lean : با HBase تنها با استفاده از یک ستون خانوادگی و یک ستون و یک کلید سطر یکتا عمل شاخص گذاری را انجام می دهد.

الگوی NoSQL : سیستم RDBMS قدیمی توسط NoSQL ها برای دستیابی به داده ها با سرعت بالاتر و پرس و جوهای کلان داده ای جایگزین میشود.

الگوی Polygot : انواع مختلف مکانیزم های ذخیره سازی مثل RDBMS ,NoSQL,CMS, OODBMS,HDFS بطور همزمان در سیستم وجود دارد تا مسائل کلان داده موجود را پاسخگو باشند.
