🔥 November 1 - World Kobane Day
📅 For the past 9 years, on November 1st, World Kobanê Day has been celebrated worldwide. On November 1, 2014, the "global mobilization for Kobanê and humanity" was launched on the day when the YPG/YPJ, the people of Kobanê, Syrian revolutionaries, internationalists and Kurds from all over the world began the counteroffensive that broke the siege and in two months led to the liberation of the city.
📝 To mark the occasion, the YPG issued a statement recalling that the victory in Kobanê marked the beginning of the end of ISIS: "(...) This resistance has entered the pages of history. Humanity, which witnessed the resistance of the YPG and YPJ, stood by the freedom and honor fighters against the reactionary mentality of ISIS. By uniting peoples and standing alongside Kobanê, it was not only the city that was liberated. Kobani became a cemetery for the dark mentality of ISIS and the last stone was laid on its grave in Baghouz."
🌹Also Murat Karayılan, commander of the guerrilla forces HPG, the self-defense force of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, issued a statement in memory of the guerrillas originally from northern Kurdistan who fell in defense of Kobanê: "485 of our cadres fell martyrs in Kobanê. Many of them were commanders. They were the fighters from Botan, Amed, Garzan, Erzurum. This is a very high price for us and it is not an ordinary thing. We sacrificed the most distinguished sons of the North and the best fighters of our people, who were competent, experienced and seasoned. Each of these comrades was a valuable friend. In addition, just as many YPG comrades fell, but Kobanê and its countryside could only be saved by paying such a high price and by the sacrifice of the bravest elite fighters. This was not an easy thing to do. Only with the great work of our people and international comrades in solidarity with our people, the heroism, high sacrifice and courage of the Apoist militants, was victory possible."

Criminal charges filed against Erdoğan for war crimes
Criminal charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity have been filed against the Turkish president and several ministers as well as senior officials of the Turkish army.
The charges relate to Turkey's attacks on northern and eastern Syria at the end of 2023, which targeted civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, water and electricity supplies, as well as oil and gas production facilities. Several dozen people were killed and large parts of the population were cut off from electricity and water supplies.
The applicants, including a German association that ran a bombed medical center in Kobanê, want to counteract the longstanding impunity with their complaint.
Theoretically, the Federal Public Prosecutor General can now initiate investigations. However, he also has political discretionary powers, so the close ties between the German and Turkish governments could prevent investigations.

KOBANE CALLING is the autobiographical memoir of an Italian cartoonist, nom-de-plume Zerocalcare, published in Italian-language in January 2015 in the magazine Internazionale.
The work is a reportage of the journey that took the author to the Turkish-Syrian border a few kilometers from the besieged city of Kobanê, among the Kurdish defenders (YPG and YPJ) of Rojava, opposed to the forces of the Islamic State.
The cartoonist humorously recounts the outcomes of the announcement, made to his parents, of his departure to Kobanê with a group of Roman volunteers to support the Kurdish resistance and objectively narrated the conflict with first-hand accounts. With a critical spirit towards the contradictions with which war interventions are internationally conducted and a very strong emotional involvement towards the people and volunteers met.
"When you hear RATATATA, it's ISIS.
When you hear TUM.TUM.TUM. it's us."
" AND SBOOOM?"
"SBOOOM depends. Fire and then SBOOOM is Americans. SBOOOM and that's it is ISIS."
