๐Ÿ’ฎ Listen / Hear

โ‡๏ธ Hear
is often used for the action that you do accidentally:
๐Ÿ”นDid you hear that? It sounded like a gunshot!

โ‡๏ธ Listen is often used for the action that you do intentionally:
๐Ÿ”นI listened to the new CD.

โ‡๏ธ There are some exceptions โ€“ some cases when โ€œhearโ€ is used for intentional listening:
๐Ÿ”นI heard (= listened to) an interesting show on the radio last night.

โ‡๏ธ The word โ€œhearโ€ can also refer to communication โ€“ when you learn something because somebody told you:
๐Ÿ”นI heard (= somebody told me) your daughter got into a car accident. Is she all right?
๐Ÿ”นHave you heard about the new Batman movie coming out soon?

โ‡๏ธ Finally, the expression โ€œhear fromโ€ a person or company means to receive any type of communication from them (could be a phone call, an e-mail, or a letter).

๐Ÿ”นI sent my application for the job, but I havenโ€™t heard from the company yet. (= they havenโ€™t contacted me yet)
๐Ÿ”นI was thrilled to get your e-mail โ€“ it was so nice to hear from you after all these years!

๐Ÿ’ฎ Watch / Look / See

Watch

โ‡๏ธ Films, performances, games and people all are things you can watch.
๐Ÿ”นIโ€™m watching a movie right now.

โ‡๏ธ In this case, the verb has an object - the bag. ๐Ÿ‘‡
๐Ÿ”นIโ€™m going outside for a minute. Would you please watch my bag?

Look

โ‡๏ธ The verb โ€œlookโ€ is different from โ€œwatch.โ€ When you look at someone or something, you simply direct your eyes at that person or thing. It can be for a short time, and it might not involve much thought. One other difference between the words โ€œwatchโ€ and โ€œlookโ€ is that โ€œlookโ€ is often followed by an adverb or preposition.

๐Ÿ”นWhen you dance, don't look down.
๐Ÿ”นShe looked at the bill before she paid it.

See

โ‡๏ธ You do not need to use a preposition or an adverb with the verb โ€œsee.โ€ Sentences with โ€œseeโ€ may have an object, or they may not.

๐Ÿ”นWith an object - I see a cat in the window.
๐Ÿ”นWithout an object - It will rain today - just wait and see.

๐ŸŸฃIn short:

โญ๏ธIf you are talking about something that your eyes simply observe, you can use โ€œsee.โ€

โญ๏ธIf you are directing your eyes at something, use โ€œlook.โ€

โญ๏ธAnd if you are paying attention to something, like a game or television program, for a period of time use โ€œwatch.โ€

๐Ÿ’ฎ Forget or leaveโ—๏ธ

โ‡๏ธ We sometimes use forget when we donโ€™t remember to bring something with us:
๐Ÿ”น Iโ€™ll have to go back; Iโ€™ve forgotten my car keys.

โ‡๏ธ We use leave with this same meaning, but only if we mention the place where we left something:

๐Ÿ”น Ali, youโ€™re always leaving your car keys on your desk.

๐ŸšซNot:โ˜œ โ€ฆ forgetting your car keys on your desk.โŒ
or
๐ŸšซNot:โ˜œ โ€ฆ youโ€™re always leaving your car keys.โŒ

I left my homework at home.
๐ŸšซNot:โ˜œ I forgot my homework at home.โŒ

โ‡๏ธ We use leave when the action is deliberate:
