В случае, если System Center DPM развёрнут на хосте виртуализации Hyper-V и мы попытаемся создать новую группу защиты Protection Group, в которую нужно включить виртуальные машины Hyper-V с этого же хоста, то создание такой группы может оказаться невозможным по причине возникновения ошибки ID 31313 «One or more prerequisites for protecting this data source is missing…» со ссылкой на обновления для ОС Windows Server 2008 / 2008 R2.

Ранее мы писали, что System Center 2019 будет поддерживать только ОС 2016 и 2019.
На днях вышла официальная новость от разработчиков Microsoft о том, что DPM 2019 и SCOM 2019 поддерживают ОС 2012 R2.
Support for Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 has been added to DPM 2019
SCOM 2019 now supports monitoring of Windows Server 2012
Если же у вас есть сервера Windows Server 2008 R2, то оставайтесь на SC 2016, официальная поддержка которого будет осуществляться до 2026 года.
Несколько слов про VMM:
VMM will only support operating systems which are in mainstream support (at the time of release) as Hosts (Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2019 for VMM 2019).
Note: VMM supports Windows Server 2012 R2 as guests though.

"System Center 2012 R2 DPM - Резервное копирование виртуальной машины Hyper-V завершается ошибкой ID 30111 Details: VssError:The writer experienced a non-transient error 0x800423F4"
После изменения конфигурации виртуальных дисков в виртуальной машине Hyper-V может перестать выполняться ранее работавшее резервное копирование виртуальной машины на сервере System Center DPM. При каждой попытке выполнить Consistency check в консоли сервера DPM может возникать ошибка с кодом ID 30111
