Have a nice weekend, folks!

UPD: That was originally a James Vincent McMorrow music video that was later re-used with a completely different (though more suitable) song by Pink Floyd. PF removed the original mix from YouTube many times, but some smaller channels still have it.

LMAO: local food chain Happy was caught spying on workers and consumers with 3rd party AI (which is illegal in Europe).

They fully rejected the issue, told that they only got the proposal but declined it in 2023. But the investigation has internal details, screenshots of their custom UI, and it was all in use with exact locations (identified).

Then their legal team tried to fk Louis Rossmann (if you know you know) and now he will fk them back.

Meanwhile, Slay the Spire II sold 3 million copies. No DRM, no always online, no $250m budget.

ok, so I bought this new budget MacBook Neo three days ago β€” the cheapest Mac ever.

Just for fun, I tried running Control on it. It launched on medium-low settings by default. Resolution was 960Γ—540, FPS stayed around 40–50. The MacBook didn’t even get hot.

Pretty good for what’s basically an $800 CAD typing machine.

And I was playing on battery. Maybe it would get +3 FPS plugged in, lol, but I’m too lazy to test today. It also had Apple’s proprietary MetalFX upscaling enabled, so the final output was full HD anyway.

Overall, a nice little bonus, considering I definitely didn’t buy this thing for gaming 😁

So, a few days ago I got a very good offer and bought Samsung S24 Ultra. Super fast, 7 years of software updates, not getting hot in games, but has pre installed garbage to remove.

The camera is beyond amazing. Log video up to 4K@120FPS (8K@30) with perfect optical stabilization, zoom between x0.5 and x10, night photos.

Elephant in the room: a lot of AI, especially at night or extreme zoom. Despite 200MP main sensor (and two 50MP) it relies on algorithms a lot. Cool stuff: upscaling even for screenshots if needed, objects removal that actually works (unlike on iPhone)

A lot of that can be disabled in settings, I suggest to switch off "scene detection" and set "intelligent optimization" to minimum. For deeper "native" photography there are apps in Samsung App Store to disable even more.

And there's S-Pen stylus: nice to have, too small to use for real.
