There are quite some doubts about Marathon, so let's summarise:
1. It's a generally good game with horrible UI/UX that slows it by a mile. Bungie sorted out maps, shooting, and teamplay.
2. The game was made for $250M (before marketing). And according to multiple sources is being mostly played on PC (Steam) with constantly falling CCU.
The game is paid but the initial batch of users was not meeting the quota to pay off the production budget even remotely.
PlayStation and Bungie are in superposition: they expected it to be much worse to simply cut the loss and fire everyone. But it got some attention too big to make this decision right away. But it's also not good enough to keep everyone so layoffs are imminent.
Morale: your game can't cost 2.5 GTA V budgets and aim for just a million people. Also, UI/UX fixes could be much cheaper than this outcome.

NVIDIA wasn't doing great on Linux for ages but recently they built a team to fix it and also gathered some people from the community. And several distros were doing fixes too.
Eventually, it worked out: the 5-30% gap in performance is no longer the thing. Even the first step already gave users up to +12% of gaming performance in the new Ubuntu 26.04. About 20% more and it will get the parity with Windows π«

The founder of Kyoto Animation Hideaki Hatta apparently died mid-February.
The legendary studio he founded with his wife had strict rules to avoid overwork, but still made it through all struggles and 2019 arson that killed several people.
They are known for Lucky Star, K-On!, Violet Evergarden, Hyouka, Miss Kobayashi, Beyond the Boundary, Nichijou, Haruhi Suzumiya, A Silent Voice, and many others.
The studio was inherited by his son who will follow the family goals, so no changes are planned so far.

By the way, Battlefield 2042 is on huge sale and the game is much better than reviews were sayin'. But yet again, it was bad upon release and it took them over a year to fix specialists and weapons. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1517290/Battlefield_2042/β¦

Have a nice weekend, folks!
UPD: That was originally a James Vincent McMorrow music video that was later re-used with a completely different (though more suitable) song by Pink Floyd. PF removed the original mix from YouTube many times, but some smaller channels still have it.

LMAO: local food chain Happy was caught spying on workers and consumers with 3rd party AI (which is illegal in Europe).
They fully rejected the issue, told that they only got the proposal but declined it in 2023. But the investigation has internal details, screenshots of their custom UI, and it was all in use with exact locations (identified).
Then their legal team tried to fk Louis Rossmann (if you know you know) and now he will fk them back.

ok, so I bought this new budget MacBook Neo three days ago β the cheapest Mac ever.
Just for fun, I tried running Control on it. It launched on medium-low settings by default. Resolution was 960Γ540, FPS stayed around 40β50. The MacBook didnβt even get hot.
Pretty good for whatβs basically an $800 CAD typing machine.
And I was playing on battery. Maybe it would get +3 FPS plugged in, lol, but Iβm too lazy to test today. It also had Appleβs proprietary MetalFX upscaling enabled, so the final output was full HD anyway.
Overall, a nice little bonus, considering I definitely didnβt buy this thing for gamingπ
