An indie developer was unable to run his own demo he just uploaded to Steam and so his friends reported that it's not working.
Then Valve deleted his SteamWorks account for spreading malware. Since a virus on his computer hijacked his game and he uploaded it mindlessly.
He seemingly got it from his old SSD he was using for ages and Windows defender (not frequently updated, I assume) failed to detect anything.
Do not be foolish with that stuff, check reviews and discussions before running any cheap-ass demo games. Check your own games, their size, etc. And learn the difference between Smart Screen warning for custom apps and real viruses.

Ballistic Moon is now officially closed. The studio behind the pointless Until Dawn Remaster has been an empty shell for a while now, but now it's completely gone.
The original game used to have a carefully placed fog and light flares. In the remaster they simply dropped the most basic 3D fog everywhere and called it a day (or a night, IDK)

Quick refunds were allowed by Valve only in 2015 after Australian government sued them for lack of refunds. Valve initially stated that they are not in Australia and it will not be a problem, then lost the case, got a fine and new refunds policy that... made them times more popular.
Then Europe joined in and sued them over for regionally locked games based on the original purchase location. And they gave up on it as well. Which made Steam even more popular.
So, Valve wasn't that democratic just a few years ago, they got to this spot by accident.
