🤝🇬🇧🇮🇷🗡 STALINGRAD. STALIN. STEEL

On November 29, 1943, 80 years ago, in Tehran, during a meeting of the Big Three, Joseph Stalin accepted a ceremonial sword forged by special order of King George VI of Great Britain.

The inscription on the blade: “To the citizens of Stalingrad, strong as steel, from King George VI as a sign of the deep admiration of the British people.”

The length of the sword is 122 cm, the blade made of high-alloy steel is 91 cm. “On both sides of the scabbard there are three five-pointed silver stars with enamel” (state catalogue). The sword is considered one of the masterpieces of blacksmithing weapons. It took 3 months to make, and 9 experts in the weapon craft supervised the work.

The sword that Stalin kissed is kept in the Museum of the Battle of Stalingrad in Volgograd.
