A quick Sunday afternoon update on the Atlantic- watching two areas for development. While the southern GOM is closer to land, its chances are fairly low for formation. The Atlantic low (#AL91) could become a tropical depression around midweek. More: hurricanes.gov

1pm CDT Sunday Sep 8th -- Here are Key Messages for the disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico (#AL91) which has a high chance of becoming a tropical storm over the next day or so.

Additional strengthening is possible as the system approaches the upper Texas and Louisiana coast, & the potential for strong winds, a dangerous storm surge, & flooding rainfall are increasing for portions of this region beginning late Tuesday.

8am EDT 28 June - NHC is watching a low pressure area in the Bay of Campeche (#AL91) with a medium chance (50%🟠) of TC formation. A @53rdWRS recon mission is scheduled to investigate later today. Main impact remains rainfall in Mexico & Central America.

2pm EDT June 28th -- The area of low pressure in the Bay of Campeche (#AL91) now has a high chance (70% 🔴) of tropical cyclone formation.

Tropical Storm Watches or Warnings may be required for portions of the Mexican Gulf coast as soon as later today.
