With the help of @NOAA's @JPSSProgram polar-orbiting satellites, we spotted #A23a—currently the world's largest #iceberg—drifting past the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula on November 15.

This iceberg, circle in red, is roughly three times the size of New York City and after being stuck in the Weddell Sea, it’s on the move for the first time in more than 30 years.

True Color RGB images from @NOAASatellites #GOES16/#GOESEast showed the gradual east-northeastward drift of #Iceberg #A23a, away from Joinville Island at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula, during the first 11 days of December 2023 (days with thick cloud cover were omitted).
