Ever heard of a cosmic "parking spot"?

☀️That’s what Lagrange Point 1 (L1) is – a place where Earth’s and the sun’s gravity balance out. 🌎
@NOAA’s #SWFOL1 will head there to keep constant watch for solar storms.

.@NOAA’s #SWFOL1 🛰️ is scheduled to launch on Tuesday, Sept. 23! 🚀

Its crown jewel is its compact coronagraph—its eye on the sun—which will allow SWFO-L1 to detect even the fastest coronal mass ejections right as they happen.

Technicians @AstrotechSpace Operations have completed integrating @NOAA's #SWFOL1 and @NASA's Carruthers Geocorona Observatory satellites to the “ring” that will carry them (along with NASA’s upcoming #IMAP mission) to space.

All three spacecraft will launch together on a single @SpaceX #Falcon9 rocket @NASAKennedy no earlier than 7:32 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

We're at T-minus 4 days and counting! 🚀

@NOAA's #SWFOL1 🛰️ is ready to improve #SpaceWeather forecasting!

Its magnetometer will track solar plasma heading toward Earth, helping forecast geomagnetic storms. Its location, at the end of a long boom, reduces interference from the spacecraft itself.
