RT @MumbaMusondam: As the world meets here in #Cali, I have been struck very much by the POWER of Art. As an artist and art love, I am reminded by a quote by the amazing later author Toni Morrison who said:

“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.

“I know the world is bruised and bleeding, and though it is important not to ignore its pain, it is also critical to refuse to succumb to its malevolence. Like failure, chaos contains information that can lead to knowledge — even wisdom. Like art.”

And in comes the amazing artist, change maker Benjamin Von Wong @thevonwong whose piece in Nairobi had my children so stimulated to talk about the issue of plastics. That giant Tap 🚰 that got many not just stimulated BUT triggered and many pushed to do something 👌🏾🙌🏽😱👏🏽🙏🏾 #INC5 @UNEP

Here at #COP16 Ben had done it again with yet another installation similar to the Swahili game Jenga meaning to build. The conversations here at these multilateral spaces are building blocks to making positive change for #MotherEarth.

Alas there are also those in our societies that are destructive to these building blocks that they dismantle for selfish reasons - if truth be told. Alas with detrimental effects on poor and marginalised communities and peoples.

So be a part of #BiodiversityJenga and the movement that it represents including why #WetlandsMatter within this work and narrative. Let’s #BeTheChange @RamsarConv

RT @RamsarConv: If rainforests are the lungs of the planet, then wetlands are the lifeblood.

As much as we need air to breathe, we need water to live. The conservation of our wetlands is essential to life on Earth.

RT @RamsarConv: 🌱 Wetlands and soil are inseparable!

Wetlands improve soil health by preventing erosion and acting as nature’s water filters. Protecting wetlands means nurturing the very ground we depend on.
