RT @esaoperations: Early on Monday morning, the @CopernicusEU #Sentinel-1a satellite took its first data over Morocco since Friday’s tragic Earthquake.

This data from space – vital to help scientists and emergency responders understand the quake – was almost lost due to #SpaceDebris.

For 16 years, ERS-2 monitored Earth’s land, oceans, ice caps and natural disasters.

In 2011, at the end of the mission, we deorbited the satellite to avoid the creation of #SpaceDebris.

This month, it comes home.
