Several #wildfires are burning across parts of Hawaii this week, fueled in part by strong winds from Hurricane Dora passing to the south. @NOAA's GOESWest was tracking the hotspots and smoke from the fires as they burned across parts of Maui and the Big Island yesterday evening. The fires have destroyed buildings, caused power outages and forced thousands of residents to evacuate. #HIwx

#GOESWest is tracking a tremendous Kona Low currently impacting the Hawaiian Islands. While locally heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding the main outcome of this system will be drought relief. Development details on the CIMSS Satellite Blog: cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/satellit… #HIwx

#GOESWest is tracking an elongated storm force Low that's deepening just north of the Hawaiian Islands today. Pretty neat to view via enhanced Water Vapor imagery. The Low has brought the coolest airmass of the #HIwx season so far, plus Gale Force Warnings for mariners.

The system that brought severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall to parts of Hawai’i on 30-31 January (see https://t.co/PxwKn3TAbU) also deposited significant snowfall on the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, as seen in #GOESWest True Color images during the past 2 days. #HIwx https://t.co/AS7FIWmEdS
