RT @WEkEO_dias: Enhanced Arctic Monitoring for the Copernicus Marine Service with Sentinel-1C 🧊

As climate change and increasing maritime traffic transform the #Arctic, the need for accurate sea-ice monitoring has never been more urgent. The Copernicus Marine Service (@CMEMS_EU) relies on #EarthObservation data to provide sea ice data, monitor currents, and support safe navigation in icy waters.

With the upcoming launch of Copernicus #Sentinel1C on December 3, these capabilities will get a powerful boost.

Equipped with advanced C-band synthetic aperture radar (#SAR), Sentinel-1C can capture high-resolution images in any weather, day or night.

This technology is essential for distinguishing between thinner, navigable ice and dangerous multiyear ice, enabling safer maritime passage and better protection for Arctic ecosystems.

As highlighted at #COP29, addressing climate challenges requires robust and reliable data. Sentinel-1C represents a significant advancement in #EarthObservation, bringing us closer to a safer and more sustainable future.
