As the sun rises over the Atlantic this morning, @NOAA's #GOESEast π°οΈ is continuing to monitor #HurricaneLee, churning northeast of Puerto Rico. #Lee is currently a major Category 3 storm and will produce hazardous surf and rip currents along beaches from the Virgin Islands to the southeastern U.S. today.

1/2 #HurricaneLee is undergoing a 3rd eyewall replacement cycle this morning. The CIMSS M-PERC algorithm is designed to predict the onset of these events to aid forecasters. The lead time for the 1st event was 24 hours, 12 hours for the second and the 3rd is still evolving.

Category 3 #HurricaneLee is still churning over the Atlantic this morning, east of the Bahamas, in this infrared imagery via @NOAA's #GOESEast π°οΈ. According to @NHC_Atlantic, #Lee is expected to bring tropical storm conditions to Bermuda beginning early tomorrow.
