๐Ÿ’กThe bioeconomy is defined by the Commission as โ€œall sectors and associated services and investments that produce, use, process, distribute or consume biological resources, including ecosystem servicesโ€.

โŒThere have been three main challenges identified for European bioeconomy development:

1โƒฃ increased pressure on land use;
2โƒฃhigher demands for bio-based resources;
3โƒฃ adapted skills for the future workforce.

โ˜น๏ธIt has been projected that by 2050 there will be a gap of approximately 40-70 % between supply and demands of biomass for food, materials, and energy.
