RT @NOAA_HurrHunter: Kermit and the crew are sending a postcard from Ireland!
@NOAA’s “Kermit,” a WP-3D Orion (#NOAA42), flying missions in the North Atlantic for the Ocean Winds Experiment Program for @NOAASatellites. These flights obtain measurements of the ocean surface in a variety of environmental conditions with a focus on extreme wind events.
The primary objectives of these missions are to:
➡️Improve our knowledge of the physics at the air-sea interface
➡️Explore new remote-sensing instrument capabilities
➡️Calibrate and validate ocean surface remote-sensing products and techniques in the storm environment
