RT @icimod: Register now to find out how you can contribute to one of this decade’s most important climate reports.
Despite growing awareness of mountains’ acute climate vulnerability, mountain experts are hugely underrepresented in the authorship of and published content produced by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
As the official United Nations body for assessing science related to climate change, the @IPCC_CH’s reports carry unique weight with governments around the world. So this is a worrying absence.
With preparations for its critical Seventh Assessment Reports (AR7) now underway, and experts saying Asia is set to need between half to two-thirds of adaptation investment this decade, now is the time for scholars, climate scientists and experts from our region to step up to ensure the perspectives of mountain Asia are prominent within this crucial document, which will influence global governments’ mitigation, adaptation, and investment decisions for years to come.
Sign up now to hear from Dr Maheswar Rupakheti, IPCC Working Group I Vice-Chair, Dr Raman Sukumar, IPCC Working Group II, Vice-Chair, and Dr Siir Kilkis, IPCC Working Group III, Vice-Chair, to find out more about why this assessment round matters more than ever, and how:
1. the nomination process works
2. the report gets put together
3. you can contribute
