With John Cornyn becoming a lame-duck and a potentially dead and already retiring Mitch McConnell, Senator Graham stood to gain two rungs seniority in the senate potentially giving him access to the most important committees for American governance, the armed services and budget committees.

Graham has been more amenable to the President and his advisor's legislative attempts and would have likely been an ally to the nationalist legislative agenda, for whatever reason he played ball more than other RINOs, possibly because of the Iran strikes or other Neocon concessions.

With two hostile GOP senators out (Cornyn and McConnell) the MAGA legislative agenda would have fared a much better chance of bills emerging from committee and being brought to a vote, but now RINOs like Murkowski and Collins will be up for those seats.

Despite being an elderly homosexual Graham dying now is very curious indeed.
