The claims by the Russian Ministry of Defence yesterday about the supposed capture of Kostantinovka were false and premature, and that remains the case today. However, the battle for the city has entered its final stage.

Russian forces were able to consolidate their positions in the northeastern part of the city around 10 days ago, which allowed them to rapidly gain control over most of the so-called "Historical Centre", which had seen prolonged battles due to the continued presence of Ukrainian positions on the edges of the city, which had forced the Russians to employ small infiltration tactics. With these positions now finally under Russian control, they have achieved a high level of freedom of movement in this part of the city, allowing them to establish control over additional parts of the private sector and physically cut the highway by capturing the nearby former industrial zone.

As a result, several groups of Ukrainian soldiers have been encircled in the eastern part of Kostantinovka, likely numbering no more than 50 in total. While they are under an encirclement, some of them may retain the ability to escape by slipping through Russian lines, similar to what we saw in Myrnograd earlier this year. Russian forces were shelling Ukrainian positions in the eastern part of the city as recent as a week ago. Since then, this part of the city has probably shifted to a zone of overlapping positions, with a dominant Russian advantage as they complete their clearing operations. It is expected that the eastern part of the city will be under solid Russian control within a week. In addition to this, Russian forces were able to clear the remaining Ukrainian positions in the southwestern part of Kostantinovka and captured the remaining inner industrial zones.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Situational update on the Dobropolye direction:

As the frontline continues to be pushed away from Pokrovsk and Myrnograd, Russia is now increasingly able to exploit the full potential of both cities as logistical hubs. As a result of this, they have begun advancing at a faster rate towards Dobropolye from the south, operating in tandem with renewed large-scale assault operations towards the city from the east.

A lack of Ukrainian units concentrated in this sector, as well as the Russian logistical advantage with their control over Pokrovsk and Myrnograd, is allowing them to make these new advances. Once Russia is able to establish a stable foothold in the dense cluster of village south of Dobropolye, it will be extremely difficult for Ukraine to turn the situation back in their favour.

🇭🇺⚡️ — Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar's government has introduced a constitutional amendment to remove President Tamas Sulyok, an ally of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and reduce Orbán's remaining political influence, POLITICO reports.

➡️ The amendment, which is expected to pass following Tisza's parliamentary supermajority, would end Sulyok's five-year term less than three years after it began, with Parliament set to elect a new president this summer.

➡️ Sulyok has repeatedly refused calls to resign voluntarily.

Houthi casualties are unknown.

This is the most significant escalation since the 2022 ceasefire between the Houthis and the Saudis ended hostilities.

🇹🇼🇨🇳⚡️ — Taiwan has reinstated "anti-communist" patriotic education for military academy graduates for the first time since 2002, citing growing military and infiltration threats from China, Reuters reports.

The Defense Ministry said the classes are intended to help graduates understand national security threats and "why we fight, and for whom we fight," while fostering a "clear awareness of friend and foe."

Officials from the Mainland Affairs Council, National Security Council, Ministry of Justice, and Academia Sinica will deliver lectures as part of the program.

📝 🇺🇸 🎆 What if America Turned 250 and Nobody Cared? | Sean McCarthy

The United States of America, the most powerful nation to exist in the history of planet Earth, is turning 250 years old. I have yet to find anybody who cares.

This collective indifference has caused some consternation on the American right. Scott Greer notes how pathetic today’s celebration is when compared with what was done for the 200th birthday in 1976. Back then New York had 225 sail ships from 30 nations parade up the Hudson River before six million spectators. A “freedom train” toured the nation for 21 months, showcasing historical artifacts at every stop (a moon rock and George Washington’s copy of the Constitution were among them). The Queen of England came to Philadelphia to deliver a “freedom bell.”

50 years later what do we get? Well there’s the Great American State Fair in Washington DC. It’s completely empty except for a dozen elderly people who are using it as a type of Dr. Kevorkian device to commit suicide via heat stroke.

Greer gestures towards the Bowling Alone explanation for all this, that Americans spend far less time involved in our communities than we did in the 1970s, but he ultimately agrees with Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire that “the left” is responsible because they have destroyed patriotism by distorting American history.

Performative anti-patriotism on the American left certainly exists but it’s a symptom rather than a cause. What brought us here is the victory of the ideology espoused by Matt Walsh and Scott Greer. Their dog caught the car. We all live in Ronald Reagan’s America. Everyone who advocated for that and wanted it won. It sucks and they fucking hate it.
