🇷🇺🇺🇦 In the Lyman direction, Russian forces continue to advance east of the Nitrius River and have entered the outskirts of Shandrygolovo.

Russian forces advanced in two areas. In the southeast, they continued to push southwest down the forest plantations in the low-lying ground, seizing new positions there and in the forested areas. Using the cover provided, they were able to enter the outskirts of Shandrygolovo and captured some of the agricultural buildings there. Battles are ongoing for the other buildings, with Ukrainian forces holding their main presence in the residential part of the village.

Russian forces also advanced to the east, capturing the rest of the gulley from Zelena Dolnya, before advancing to and clearing positions on the adjacent tactical heights.

In the northwest, Russian forces made additional progress down the eastern bank of the Nitrius River, advancing south to the next two forests, capturing them and two nearby treelines.

📝 To the east, Russian troops made incremental gains in the village of Torskoe, nearly pushing out all remaining Ukrainian defenders.

Further to east, the Serebryansky/Krements Forest is being abandoned by Ukrainian troops to avoid being encircled. This will weaken the defense of Seversk greatly.

Rerum Novarum // Intel, Breaking News, and Alerts 🇺🇸
🇷🇺🇺🇦- Ukrainian forces have begun a slow withdrawal from the west Toretsk pocket. Russian forces have captured Petrovka, and half of Sherbinovka - Konstantinovka direction.
🇷🇺🇺🇦 In the Kostantinovka direction, Russian forces continued to advance and completed the capture of Toretsk City.

Russian forces advanced in two areas. In the southwest, they continued their operations to clear the village of Shcherbinovka. After they captured the southern and main part of the village, they entered the northern part and began clearing the area of the railway line. Russian forces captured most of the rest of the village, including the local school. They were also able to clear the rest of the positions in the pocket west of Shcherbinovka due to the progress inside the settlement.

Further east, Russian forces cleared the remaining positions in western Toretsk after the last Ukrainian soldiers withdrew from the city and captured the rest of the adjacent Toretsk Forest.

In the northeast, Russian forces resumed their assault operations northwest of Dylovka, and established control over positions on four different treelines on the tactical heights.

Additionally, in the west, Russian soldiers managed to enter the western part of Katerynovka, although it is unclear if any positions were established.

Russian forces were able to break through from the heavily fortified terykon at the St. Matrona Mine, cut the railway line to Shcherbynovka, and come within 800 metres of cutting off all Ukrainian soldiers in the area to the south of the Kleban-Bykskoe reservoir.

All Ukrainian reinforcements to the villages of Shcherbynovka, Katerynovka and Kleban Byk are running down one road along the dam on the eastern edge of the reservoir, which the Russians are constantly targeting. This road is covered by a large trench strongpoint, which is also being constantly targeted by FPV drones and artillery.

Russian forces are also pressuring the edges of the salient, where they have infiltrated Katerynovka, almost captured Shcherbynovka, and pushed the Ukrainians away from the northern outskirts of Toretsk.

If this road is cut, large numbers of Ukrainian soldiers will be encircled against the reservoir.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 In the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces continued their offensive on Kupyansk and have reached the city centre. Russian forces advanced in two areas. In the east, they pushed south down the highway, clearing houses on Lenina Street, while significantly…
🇷🇺🇺🇦 In the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces are still consolidating their control over the village of Moskovka. Much of the village is still in the grey zone but it is expected to be fully captured and secured in the coming days.

Recently, Russian deep recon groups (DRGs) were spotted in the village of Sobolovka to the south of Moskovka and to the west of the city of Kupyansk.

This doesn't mean that Sobolovka was captured, the Russians had already announced the fall of Sobolevka weeks ago, but only yesterday footage was published of Russian troops in the village itself.

However, Russian presence west of the city of Kupyansk puts the Ukrainian defenders in the city and in the bridgehead over the Oskol river in the Kharkov Oblast at immense risk of being encircled. If gains in Sobolovka will be consolidated, it will put the city of Kupyansk in operational encirclement.

🇺🇸👨‍🚒 Shortage of volunteer firefighters could force more towns to move to paid firehouses, costing taxpayers

Nearly 70% of the fire crews working in departments across the country are volunteers, according to the National Fire Department Registry. These dedicated civil servants serve on the frontline, keeping smaller communities safe, but that safety net is shrinking due to a growing shortage of volunteers.

[There are] nearly 20,000 volunteer firehouses nationwide, which save taxpayers an estimated $46.9 billion a year — $4.7 billion just in New York State, according to the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York.

But between 1985 and 2020, the number of volunteers dropped by more than 20%, according to the NVFC. At the same time, the number of emergencies they're called to has more than tripled.

🇪🇺🇺🇸 European consumers pay on average 158% more than American consumers for electric energy and 345% more for natural gas despite being a lot poorer.

For the monthly electricity bill paid in the EU, 20% of the bill's price is inflated by taxes.

An EU-funded German think tank, in a December 2024 analysis, presented the "only" solution available: wait until renewables become cheap something which may or may not happen.

Their graphs show how renewables will change the future electricity bill, which by their own admission, will remain unchanged as whatever surges in electricity generation may appear from renewables will be offset by other taxes imposed by the EU in order to maintain auxiliary infrastructure such as batteries to stock up on surplus energy and replacing older infrastructure.

The think tank admits the future where Europe regains access to cheap energy without resorting to importing natural gas from Russia is "overtly optimistic" because the renewable infrastructure is manufactured almost exclusively by China with which the EU recently ruined its ties with to please the U.S.

Although the think tank found the key flaw in its thinking that renewables will save Europe, the think tank says at the end that paying for more expensive energy is a viable alternative than "volatile imports from global markets" and even said that in the future, the EU may bridge the energy cost gap with the US.

🇵🇸🇮🇱 - Situation update in the Gaza Strip:

In May, Israel launched the Gideon's Chariots Operation, hoping to increase territorial control of the Gaza Strip to 75% - which has not happened. The offensive has been a complete disaster.

Israel controlled 40% of the Gaza Strip before the operation, Israel now controls 179 sqkm of territory - 49% of the strip. 75% of the Gaza Strip has been declared a no-go zone for Palestinians, restricting their access, however, as stated not all of the no-go zones have come under IDF control.

The security cabinet is expected to meet today, with Likud's right-faction pushing ahead with the complete Gaza annexation plan, which is rejected by Strategic Minister Dermer and Defense Minister Katz, who support encircling Gaza city only.

Key:
Pink: Israeli control of the strip.
Purple: Israeli security belt within the strip.
Blue: Israeli-backed Yasser Abu Shabaab's Palestinian militia, southeast Rafah.
Yellow: Israeli constructed corridors (construction at some, such as the Magen Oz Corridor, are still ongoing).

Note, the 75% no-go zones are not shown on the map.

🇺🇸 Eden Deckerhoff is being charged with battery after the Jewish student wearing an IDF shirt whom she had a minor scuffle with chose to press charges against her, seemingly after consulting with a Zionist support network.

Deckerhoff innocently spoke to police on her own, without a legal rep, and gave them all the ammunition they need to use against her.

Only positive news is State Attorney Jack Campbell declined to hit her with a hate crime enhancer.

"As a condition of her release, she cannot return to campus," WTXL reports. "Campbell says they consulted the U.S. attorney's office and reached a decision to handle the case in state court."

The DOJ absurdly got involved in this minor "shoving" case because the alleged "victim" was Jewish and Trump ordered all federal agencies to prioritize fighting antisemitism over all else.

📝: JucheRespecter: It's really, really, REALLY funny that Trump gave y'all the federal Department of Anti-Racism, and it's way more radical and overbearing in persecuting white people than Ibram X Kendi ever wanted to be.
